travelin fools travel blog

Howdy. Hola. Aloha. Welcome to Travelin’ Fools.

I am Kelsey Kay Love. If you’re reading something on this site, chances are I wrote it. If you’re looking at a beautiful picture and admiring my photography skills, stop it, ’cause that’s my boyfriend, Peter Rimkus. We met in Austin, Texas, in 2012 and made a plan to travel the world together despite being, for all intents and purposes, completely unprepared. But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? If we waited to travel until I paid off my student loans or Peter paid off his credit card debt, we’d have to wait seven years until it vanished. That’s how it works, right? I think I read that somewhere.

But for real. The point is that we decided it’s important to see the world. And despite not being trust fund babies or having savings accounts or being employed full time a majority of the time, we somehow manage to see pretty cool shit. Some of it’s pretty, some of it’s cool, and some of it’s shit. This is not a blog about how to live reasonably on your pension. This is a blog for people who don’t have all their shit together and can appreciate that for what it is – simple, beautiful, and spontaneous. Life’s too short to live somewhere that sucks.

Peter is a Photographer, Tour Guide and Master Scuba Diver Trainer. After growing up in San Jose, California, and Austin, Texas, he worked as a scuba dive instructor, kayak guide and surf photographer for the last few years in places like Key Largo, Bermuda, Costa Rica, Maui, and Australia’s Gold Coast. Currently, he is working as a lift operator on Coronet Peak, one of the most popular ski resorts on the South Island of New Zealand. He enjoys eating things made of sugar, shaking his hips in the morning time and being in the ocean as much as possible.

I am a Marketing Copywriter and Bartender. I grew up in Irving, Texas, went to college in Austin, Texas, and was briefly very poor in New York City. I enjoy writing, watching movies on outdoor projector screens, dancing with old men, jamming to solid tunes, cussing too much for my grandma’s liking, making delicious cocktails, floating in the ocean, and being the little spoon. I currently work as a copywriter for Australian & U.S. companies and several Maui travel sites, and I hope you’ll follow our adventures and use our advice to find your own happiness, wherever in the world that may be. Cheers, y’all.
